Note : Make sure you have unlocked bootloader of your Moto E (Click here if not) &
you take all the responsibility of your phone !
For Stock Lollipop [flashable] click here.

CyanogenMod is a custom ROM which is available for most of the devices & they are know to solve and fix bugs on time. They regularly update their ROM'S.

CM12 is a custom ROM made out of STOCK 5.0 lollipop !

Just  Unlock the bootloader and after unlocking bootloader click here to flash latest twrp recovery :)

To install CM12 we need [Click to download files]:-
  1. CM12 Official Custom ROM. [Download cm12 & not cm12.1][Click here for cm12.1]
  2. G-Apps. [Download for cm12 only]
Steps to install CM12 :-
  • Download latest version of CM12 from their official site. [thanks to percy_g2].
  • Download suitable package of GApps [Google apps] from the link.
  • Make sure your phone has Stock Recovery replaced by TWRP recovery[click here to Flash TWRP].
  • Copy the downloaded files into your Moto E & put your phone into recovery mode [TWRP recovery]
  • Now click on Wipe [to wipe data, cache, dalvik cache] & Swipe to Factory Reset your phone.
  • Now go to install and select CM12 zip file that we downloaded & swipe to confirm flash!
  • Now CM12 will be installed successfully, then flash GApps in same way !
  • Now reboot into system & you will see the cyanogenMod logo [first boot may take time].
  • Check settings for more information about ROM & it's features.
  • Reboot & Enjoy Smooth CM12 !
Steps to update :-
  • Download the latest ROM file & reboot to recovery mode.
  • Go to wipe and wipe dalvik cache and cache. [Do not wipe data]
  • Now go to install and flash the latest version and reboot to system.
  • You will be successfully rebooted to new version of ROM.
  • It's recommended to do a clean wipe after many updates or if you find something wrong :)
  • Data is not deleted while updating :)
NOTE this is a nightly version and hence so many updates because developer is fixing the bugs. Keep updating because the bugs are fixed in each update :) CM 12 is moved to CM 12.1. Click here for CM 12.1 post.
